Palmares is a town located on the Bernardo Soto highway, between the towns of San Ramón and Naranjo.
It is very popular in the month of January, where the Civic festivities occur (they are called "Fiestas de Palmares").

History
It was another Huetar controlled region until the Spaniards came. The first colonial farmers produced tobacco and zarzaparrilla. Palmares villa became a county in 1888.
