This is the capital city of the province of Puntarenas. It is located 2 hours from the central valley. The city is surrounded by ocean, and several ferries carry passengers and vehicles across the Gulf of Nicoya, to Tambor.
The port of Caldera is located nearby and there is also a cruise port in the city, where most cruise ships dock.
The average temperature is 82ºF so many costaricans usually taste "churchills" in the restaurants in the beach, these are typical ice creams.
