Sarchí is the most known artisan-town located 29km northeast of the city of Alajuela. Not only tourists come in large numbers for its crafts, but also Costa Ricans come to purchase made-to-order furniture.

The most prestigious crafts are wooden crafts, furniture, painted oxcarts, and leather goods.

The drive itself to Sarchí, either by Naranjo or Grecia, is beautiful, since it goes through nice coffee plantations, and rural areas.
