Pacuare is a river in the county of Turrialba. It was considered by the Discovery Channel as the world's second most scenic river for rafting. It is a class IV river for rafting.

Several companies offer rafting tours, some are: Ríos Tropicales and Aventuras Naturales.

Rafting begins near the town of Turrialba, and it takes around 4 hours to get to the end, near the Guapiles highway after the Braulio Carrillo National Park. The river crosses through tropical jungle, with indian huts being almost the only man-made structures seen during the tour. The final part involves floating in the river off the rafts, where the river crosses between the rocks of the mountain: this is considered one of the best parts of the tour. (Due to this geology, it is considered perfect for a dam, but environmentalists have successfully stopped the ICE from building it up to now.)

The rafting trips end in the Guapiles Highway, since the river is considered class I or II from there downstream to the sea.
