Tabacon Resort is a popular tourist destination in the region of San Carlos. The resort has a hotel and hot springs along the Tabacón river. It also offers canopy tours and other activities. Its popularity is mainly due to its impressive gardens and the spectacular view of the Volcan Arenal, which can be seen from many of its swimming pools.
It has many hot pools, with various temperatures, and a SPA.
Its customers are mainly foreign tourists, due to its expensive entrance fee.

Pools
Tabacón Resort has multiple pools along the river. Each one has a different name and temperature. Most do not resemble a swimming pool but are part of the river itself, with waterfalls and vegetation besides them. Some offer the chance to lay back and see the volcano directly in front.
There is even a cold water pool, nested neatly in between the rain forest.
Several bars are located nearby or inside a pool.
Hotel
The hotel is located on the other side of the road, but all its guests can enter the hot springs freely. Nevertheless, the hotel does have jacuzzis and their own swimming pools.
Recommendations
The gardens and view of the volcano are impressive, it is worthwhile to take cameras. For photography aficionados, take a tripod to take night time photography of the lava flows of the volcano.
To avoid crowds, arrive early or before lunch. Most tour buses arrive during or after lunch. Other lunch options are available in the nearby town of La Fortuna.
