Tapanti National Park

This park was created in 1982, and has 583 square kilometers. Its official name is "Parque Nacional Tapanti-Macizo la Muerte". It is located in the Talamanca mountain range, and its altitude ranges from 1.200m to 2.550 meters.

Species
It has a dense vegetation, from rain forest to mountain forest. It rains most of the year, being February and April the driest months. Its animal species include anteaters, jaguars, monkeys, tapirs, and some otters in the riverbanks. It has more than 260 species of birds, including quetzals.
Visitor services
There is a small exhibition room, and trails. There is a trail called "Catarata" which takes you to a waterfall, and it is easy to hike. Fishing is allowed between April and October.
